Misjka travels to Germany

The first translation rights for Misjka have been sold - to Germany. It's the publishing house of Thienemann that will publish the German translation at the end of next year.

Misjka is the 8+ book that I wrote, based on some true stories by Anoush Elman. Earlier we worked together on the young adult novel The boy who found happiness (Dutch: De gelukvinder).

Misjka is about Roya, who asks her parents for a pet, now that her family finally got a permit to stay in The Netherlands after having fled from Afghanistan. Roya starts telling the little rabbit they buy (Misjka) about the trip they made as refugees. But then, one morning, Misjka disappears...

The warm illustrations were made by Annet Schaap, whose famous book Lampje is also published in German by Thienemann.
